VOLUNTEER CONDUCT STANDARDS
These standards are designed to help volunteers understand the practices we expect them to employ in
and around the swimming environment.
These standards shall be conveyed verbally and in writing by the SEASTARS Aquatic staff to volunteers teaching and helping for the first time.
Volunteers should not:
- have any inappropriate contact inside or outside the swimming environment with any swimmer met through SEASTARS Aquatics, INC. or SEASTARS Swim Team.
- have contact with any swimmer inside or outside the swimming environment unless that swimmer’s coach, another sanctioned adult volunteer, or the swimmer’s parent/guardian is present or aware of the situation.
- have contact with any swimmer inside or outside the swimming environment without prior knowledge and consent of the SEASTARS Aquatics, INC. staff and the swimmer’s parent/guardian.
Some examples of inappropriate conduct include:
- Violations of state laws regarding child abuse, providing alcohol to minors, or having alcohol in or around SEASTARS Swim Team sanctioned events, etc.
- Dress that violates school dress codes or is inconsistent with normal business attire.
- Use of profanity or inappropriate language in or around the swimming environment.
- Physical contact which is inappropriate to a coach/volunteer-pupil professional relationship.
- Cash is not appropriate. When you want to offer incentives use rewards such as cookies, candy (if permitted by SEASTARS staff and parents) or novelty items imprinted with the organization’s logo.
These are examples only and not intended to be a comprehensive list. There could be other actions not listed herein which could result in suspension or dismissal as a volunteer.
Allegations of violation of these standards will result in immediate suspension as a SEASTARS Aquatics volunteer.
If an investigation by the proper authorities determines a violation occurred, it will result in the immediate and permanent dismissal as a SEASTARS Aquatics volunteer.
I have received a copy of SEASTARS Aquatics Volunteer Standards and have read, understand and will follow these standards. Please sign and return this form:
