Focus:

Below you will find the SEASTARS Aquatics Swim Team's focus for the month.

Our focus for the team as a whole is placed on participating in USA Swimming's sactioned meets throughout the fall and winter months.

While improving stenght and stamina in the pool the team is also working on stroke technique. The team is currently participating in Video taping and stroke feedback. A coach tapes each swimmer's strokes from a variety of angles and then uses the video for frame by frame slow motion feedback.

Each group and each swimmer will have a variation of the focus, depending on ability and need of the individual. In general the team will be working towards swimming all four strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle) in good form.

SEA Group - The focus for this group is placed mainly on stroke improvement. This group will work towards learning all four strokes. Also, this group will work on building endurance in distance type events and working towards joining the STARS group. The SEA group is continually learning proper race start and diving technique.

STARS Group – The focus for this group has begun to move towards more advanced techniques while also challanging our selves with personal goals during practice and at meets. While we are always working to swim further and faster, we are also working towards swimming sets smarter. By swimmers challanging themselves to personal goals for each set they become smarter, faster, and more productive/well rounded swimmers. The STARS group is continuing to learn more advanced race start and diving technique.

Aquatics Group – The focus for this group is mainly on adapting body movements to the most efficient stroke technique. Some of the swimmers in this group have limited motion, but is in no way limiting their ability to swim. A few of the swimmers have begun adapting their strokes to be as efficient or even more efficient as our other swimmers on the team. This group has made leaps and bounds in their ability in the water.

Stretching:
Comming Soon!
Dry land:

As for any swim team dry land workouts are fundamental to the success of swimmers.

Many of our dry land workouts have begun to incorporate surgical tubing resistance training. This tubing is fixed to a pole then used as a resistance strength builder and as a way for coaches to have a hands on approach to stoke technique out of the water. This is one of the most efficient ways of working with swimmers on vast range of techniques.

SEASTARS has also begun bi-monthly video taping sessions. The video sessions allow swimmers to see their strokes from a third person point of view and allowing a more in depth look at their stroke techniques and efficiency. By utilizing frame by frame slow motion we can break the swimmers strokes down into key parts. Therefore, swimmers become more educated and efficient in their individual strokes.

The dry land workouts for SEASTARS has been mainly core strengthening. Swimming strength is dependent on strong abs and back. As the swimmers progress they will move to strengthening shoulders and legs.
